Your Questions Answered Here

What would a web site be without a few FAQs? We get a few questions from time to time, so here are those that are most common. To be honest, some of these questions haven't been asked, but we think you might be wondering. If you have questions that haven't been asked, contact us and let us know what's on your mind.

How the heck do you pronounce the name of your company?

We pronounce it "xydeo", but aren't real picky about that and are open to other options. We hope that helps.

What does Xydeo mean?

Well, we think it could mean "a really cool and effective way to train people", but that would be self-serving, so we won't go there. But, if you need a meaning, here you go. We know that 60% of the workforce is now comprised of Gen X and Gen Y workers. Most X-ers and Y-ers have moved beyond the old training model. You know the drill: "Let me subject you to an endless Powerpoint session, after which you will remember nothing but I can say we're compliant". Nope, no good anymore. They like video, audio, and downloads that are interesting and accessible anywhere at any time. So, when you mash-up the X, the Y and the video, well...you get the picture, pardon the pun. Amazingly enough, other generations like this approach just as much, but they are too polite to say so.

How are annual subscriptions priced?

Annual subscriptions are based on just 2 factors: 1) how many employees will get access, and 2) how many modules you want access to. See our pricing page for details.

Is content customized for each client?

It can be, but we've designed our material to be applicable to most companies. But, we know that you might want to distribute your own information, so no problem... we have made provisions for that as well. We also prepare custom training videos; our only condition is that they can't be lame. We have our reputation after all.

What if I don't want to view all the videos in one of your modules?

We can customize any module for a client by subtracting or adding videos to meet your requirements. Your employees will only see the content you want them to see based on their login.

What are they system requirements to use Xydeo?

Basically you need access to the internet. Xydeo employs video as a method of training, so if you are still on a 56K dial-up, there might be some issues. Here are the specs:

Windows

  • Windows 2000 or higher
  • IE 6 or higher (w/ JavaScript Enabled)
  • Flash 9 or higher

Mac

  • Broadband Internet Connection
  • Mac OS X 10.4 or higher
  • Either Safari 3 or higher, or Firefox 3 or higher (w/ JavaScript Enabled)
  • Flash 9 or higher

What is "cloud computing", and what are the advantages?

Cloud computing means that a particular system, a training system in this case, is being provided by a company out in the webosphere somewhere. That means you don't have to buy hardware, software, worry about the latest operating system, or assign an administrator to manage your user permissions and assignments. Translated, it is much easier and less costly for you. Most IT folks will admit that cloud computing is a no-brainer mega-trend.

Do you deliver content in areas other than risk and compliance?

We have gotten many requests to offer other types of content, and we are working as fast as we can to deliver that. Please use the info@xydeo.com address on the contact us page to let us know what you want to see.

What do you mean by "risk compliance".

Many industries are regulated in the area of risk, and as part of their compliance obligations, they need to create employee awareness of certain kinds of risk. In general industry, OSHA requires that organizations train there people on emergency procedures. The FDIC requires that Financial institutions create awareness of cyber-threats. We have created a compliance matrix that spells out what compliance requirements Xydeo will help with.
