Boring Stuff Doesn't Help Us Learn

Before the age of computers, text messaging, Google, and what the heck...even the Guttenberg Press, people learned stuff. Should we be amazed that the human race passed information from generation to generation without modern-day technology? What was their secret? Actually, it was no secret at all: they told stories that people would be interested in and would remember. This technique worked because our minds make more sense of things that we can relate to, so the information sticks with us.

Unfortunately, we think that we have evolved past the need for stories. Sure, we are impressed that some smarty-pants can throw endless facts and data at us, but what will we remember? Probably not much. So we've not only learning nothing, but we've wasted our time too! Enough of that; there is a better way.

Our goal is simply to make a difference by taking important information that has been historically tediously boring, and making it interesting. Its pretty much that simple! For more information, the books listed below are some of our favorites that give some of the finer details as to why stories are powerful learning tools.
